​Facilitator Information: From being in international education for over 20 years, Kimberly cares deeply about inclusion; the exposure to, and privilege of, working with people coming from such differing backgrounds has cultivated in her an immense appreciation for the unique human spirit, honed her ability to consider multiple perspectives in varied situations, and enabled growth through sincere connections in all aspects of instruction and interaction. She has extensive experience working with people of all age levels in a diverse variety of roles in the classroom and leadership levels, extending to the parents and supporters of the broader school community. As a constant throughout her career, Kimberly has continued to strengthen her teaching, learning, leadership, and facilitation skills by actively participating in numerous communication courses, such as Cognitive Coaching, Adaptive Schools and Authentic Conversations. Among other developmental workshops she has taken or facilitated around the world as a pedagogical coordinator for several years, and now as a certified Positive Discipline Trainer, all her work is aimed at building stronger connections for more empowered interactions.
Casey O'Roarty, M. Ed, is a facilitator of personal growth and development. Her work encourages parents to discover the purpose of their journey, while also providing them with tools and a shift of mindset that allows them to deepen their relationships with themselves and their families. As a Positive Discipline Lead Trainer and certified coach, Casey has led countless groups through workshops and classes that have left them feeling empowered and excited about parenting. Her first book, Joyful Courage: Calming the Drama and Taking Control of YOUR Parenting Journey launched May 20th, 2019. Casey lives in the Pacific Northwest with greatest teachers – her husband, and two adolescent kids.

Workshop Description: Teaching Parenting the Positive Discipline Way (developed by Lynn Lott and Jane Nelsen) is a research-based parent education program that provides a step-by-step approach to starting and leading experientially based parenting groups. This program stands alone or offers significant enhancement to any program. It provides experiential activities that reach the heart to inspire deeper understanding and change.
Participants in this workshop will:
1. Learn research based effective tools and techniques for teaching parents how to use discipline that is kind and firm at the same time (non-punitive, non-permissive).
2. Learn how to facilitate a parent class from the position of a non-expert.
3. Gain practice with experiential exercises that help parents go beyond intellectual understanding to be able to respond in empowering ways that teach children.
4. Learn how to use materials and activities in group settings, parenting classes, and individual work with families.
