In-Person Suicide Prevention Training

This funded training is available only to people who live or work in Herefordshire & Worcestershire. If you have applied for tickets and you live or work outside of Herefordshire & Worcestershire, then unfortunately your ticket will be refunded.

This session will be 'in-person' and takes place Wednesday 27th November 2024, from 9.00am to 12.00pm (3 hours with a 15 minute break).

It will be held at Herefordshire & Worcestershire Group Training Association premises, Holmer Road, Hereford HR4 9SX.

Places are restricted to 25 attendees per session on a ‘first come, first served basis’.

This 3 hour training session is aimed at anyone who wants to understand more about suicide, how to talk directly and comfortably about suicide and what we can all do to offer practical support.

The session aims for participants to;

· Strengthen suicide prevention skills & knowledge within communities

· Understand the impact of stigma, attitudes and myths about suicide

· Explain the correct language to use regarding suicide

· Having open, non-judgemental, sensitive and safe conversations

· How to explore intensity and what actions to take

· Construct support plans

· Signposting routes for support

Around 1 in 5 of us will have thoughts of suicide during our lifetime. It is a common response to stressful and overwhelming life events.

We believe that Suicide prevention is everyone’s business. That it is family, friends, colleagues, neighbours and those closest to us that are most able to understand when someone is at risk of suicide, and to support that person to take the first steps towards getting help.
