Step into the world of classic Disney animation and discover the groundbreaking artistry behind One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961)! Join us as we celebrate the 65th anniversary of this classic “tail” and explore how Disney animators embraced xerography, a process that allowed their drawings to be printed directly onto animation cels. This innovation limited the need for labor-intensive hand-inking, making it possible to replicate 99 Dalmatian puppies without needing to redraw each one—a revolutionary technique that etched its “spot” in animation history. After, using traditional hand-drawn animation, we will implement principles such as staging and solid drawing to bring our own spotted puppies to life on paper!
