In person DIY Holiday Wreath Making Workshop

Join Allen Centennial Garden Staff in Moore Hall to create a holiday wreath! We'll provide all the supplies and teach the basics.
About this Event

Create an awesome wreath in-person with us!

This one of a kind wreath, made by you, is a fine way to ring in the holiday season! A perfect gift or family activity.

This workshop will last from 10:00 to 12:00 pm on December 6. We’ll take you through all the steps and have plenty of fresh greens on hand. Look forward to the sound of snips, the smell of evergreen, and the opportunity to learn and get to know the different evergreens–yew, pine, and spruce. Our staff will be on hand to lead you through the basics and answer any wreath making questions that may arise. (And, a garden question or two.)

We'll provide a variety of evergreen boughs from the Garden and locally from ACG supporters, accent branches, a wire wreath frame, and additional wire. We'll even sweep up the mess when we're done! Some will complete this project in 90 minutes or less. Others will spend the full 2 hours. All create great wreaths!

Support the Garden

The winter workshops support ongoing projects in the Garden and allow us to maintain our intern program. Last year our interns assisted with designing the new Dutch garden, worked with community members to write educational signs, and researched our peony collection. These projects help keep the Garden a beautiful and dynamic place where future gardeners and science communicators hone their skills!

D.C. Smith and Parking

This in-person workshop will be held in DC Smith Greenhouse. (465 Babcock Dr, Madison, WI 53706) The doors to the Greenhouse will be opened 30 minutes proir to the event. The Greenhouse is a public space and campus treasure. It's worth it to arrive early to see a few heat loving plants.... Or, to visit a few of the houses after you complete your project.

Lot 40, which is the first left as you exit University on to Babcock Dr., is the closest free parking. If you are coming via Observatory Dr. you will need to access lot 40 via Linden on the West side of the Babcock Dairy building since Babcock does not allow traffic Southbound beyond Linden Dr.
