About this Event
Through hands-on instruction and guided practice, participants will learn to create cylinder cups and add various types of hot glass bits. Emphasis will be placed on timing, shaping and problem-solving, in order to refine skills. The first two days will be spent learning the fundamentals of the cup. Then participants will learn to assist each other bringing bits, as well as techniques to apply various bits at the bench. By the end of the class, students will have expanded their glassblowing repertoire to include adding unique bits to various blown and solid forms. This class is for advanced beginners - some glassblowing experience is required for this course.
What to Expect: Students will work together and learn to manipulate molten glass (2000 degrees). Safety, color application, and tools will all be covered in a fun and exciting environment. The hot shop is a loud studio, and can get quite warm. Read more about how to prepare for class on our Registration Info page.
Eligibility: This is for advanced beginners, previous glassblowing skills required. Open to ages 14 and up.
Pick-up: The glass needs to cool down overnight, so the students will have to return to UrbanGlass once notified to pick up their work.
