About this Event
This gathering will bring together leaders, advocates, artists, and organizations who care deeply about culture, storytelling, maternal health & justice and the lives of Black mothers and families. The evening will feature an intimate community conversation with In Her Honor artist Omari Maynard, whose portrait work centers grief, remembrance, and collective healing, alongside remarks from Danielle Atkinson of Mothering Justice and Shawnee Benson Gibson of the Shawnee Benson Gibson Foundation. The portraits on view have also been presented in the halls of Congress during Black Maternal Health Week, helping to humanize policy conversations and elevate the lived experiences of families too often left unseen.
