Her attention to simple exchanges, intimacy and landscape, along with her patient style of filmmaking have made career highlights such as Wendy and Lucy (2008), Certain Women (2016), First Cow (2019), and Showing Up (2022) shine for their sincere depiction of ordinary situations that are anything but mundane.

In the 1820s, a reserved loner and skilled cook travels west to Oregon Territory, where he meets a Chinese immigrant also seeking his fortune. Soon the two team up on a dangerous scheme to steal milk from the wealthy landowner’s prized Jersey cow – the first, and only, in the territory.
Film tickets are $10 at the front desk; free admission for members and youth under 18. Seating is first come, first served. Talks, tours and other events are admission by donation or free with membership.
