About this Event

Jannette Taylor, MOL, MSNDR

Jannette Taylor is a native of Omaha, Nebraska. Ms. Taylor currently serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Women’s Center for Advancement. She is also the owner of Social Impact Outliers, a consulting firm working with businesses, universities and nonprofits throughout the Midwest and South Florida on capacity building, leadership development, fundraising and capital campaigns. Prior to returning to Omaha, she served as the CEO of the United Way in Kansas and ran an international nonprofit in Florida that built schools in developing nations.

Ms. Taylor has always had a passion for working with marginalized youth in the community. She founded a community based nonprofit, Impact One Community Connection in 2009, and served as its Executive Director for several years. Impact One was a gang intervention and prevention program serving youth and young adults. Programs included employment opportunities for participants and crisis intervention to local hospitals when gang related shootings and homicides occurred.

Ms. Taylor focused her energy on the youth and young adults in North Omaha. Working with the Empowerment Network of Omaha, Impact One began managing the Great Summer Jobs Program that has provided over 11,000 employment opportunities for high-at-risk youth and gang members in Omaha. The employment program still exists today.

She has a passion for social justice and has been actively involved in youth development programs and community revitalization projects. She served on the African-American Achievement Council Steering Committee and helped lead the Bridge to Success Program, an early entry college program for disadvantaged youth in Omaha Public Schools. Through this program, she and others helped hundreds of high school students get a jump start on college, taking college courses at Metro Community College, Bellevue University and University of Nebraska Omaha.

Jannette currently serves on the Nongovernmental Organizations Board at the Huizenga School of Business at Nova Southern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She also serves as a Board of Director for the Omaha Discovery Trust/Kiewit Luminarium and Threshold, formerly, MACCH – MACCH Metro Continuum of Care for the Homeless in Omaha, Nebraska. She serves as a returning Faculty is Residence at the University of Iowa’s, Women’s Resource and Action Center, lecturing on business and leadership.

Jannette’s personal life experiences has aided her in serving diverse groups and has positioned her to be the perfect advocate for marginalized people in the community. Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle acknowledged her hard work and dedication to the community by declaring December 5th

“Jannette Taylor Day” in Omaha, Nebraska. While this is an impressive accomplishment, Jannette is most proud of her daughter Erika, who graduated from Regis University in Denver, Colorado and is currently working there in the nonprofit sector.

She attended undergraduate and graduate school at the College of Saint Mary, earning a Bachelors in Business and a Masters of Science in Organizational Leadership. She went on to earn a Masters of Science in Negotiation and Dispute Resolution at Creighton University School of Law Werner Institute.
