In conversation with Olafur Eliasson at Oxford North
We have the pleasure of inviting you to an event as part of the launch of Oxford North, the flagship new innovation district for the city.
Please join us for a conversation between Icelandic-Danish artist Olafur Eliasson and Behaviour Change Scientist & Poet Laureate, University College, Oxford Pireeni Sundaralingam to celebrate the opening of the artist's first permanent UK artwork at Oxford North, the city's new innovation district.
Internationally renowned for art installations that challenge the way we perceive and interact with our environments, Eliasson’s UK projects include The weather project, 2003, which drew two million people to Tate Modern London, Serpentine Gallery Pavilion, 2007 and more recently Lifeworld, 2024, displayed on Piccadilly Circus’ screens with CIRCA.
The artwork, titled Your planetary assembly, is inspired by models of the solar system and is reminiscent of the orreries at the University of Oxford’s History of Science Museum.
As part of Oxford North Engage, our art, culture, social value and legacy programme, delivered with Contemporary Art Society by IF Oxford Science & Ideas Festival in collaboration with Modern Art Oxford, Creation Theatre and Fusion Arts, the evening will also include a piece of bespoke live theatre by Creation Theatre.
Drinks and canapés will be served.
