In Conversation with Lord Hodge

The Scottish Public Law Group are delighted to invite you to a free evening event, In Conversation with Lord Hodge, which will take place in the Laigh Hall, Parliament House, 11 Parliament Square Edinburgh EH1 1RQ on Thursday 06 November 2025 from 17:30 – 19:00. This event will take place in person only and is eligible for 1.5 hours of CPD.

The Right Honourable Lord Hodge was appointed as a Senator of the College of Justice at the Court of Session in 2005. In 2013, he was appointed to the Supreme Court as a Supreme Court Justice, and in 2020, he was appointed Deputy President of the Supreme Court by Her Majesty the Queen.

Following a longstanding judicial career in which he has presided over a series of landmark public law cases including R(Miller) v Secretary of State for Exiting the EU, For Women Scotland v The Scottish Ministers and the UNCRC Incorporation (Scotland) Bill reference, Lord Hodge has announced his intention to demit office on the 31st of December 2025.

Attendees at this event will have an opportunity to hear directly from Lord Hodge in a public law Q&A session, chaired by Paul Reid KC. Questions will be taken from the floor (time permitting), but with a view to including as many questions of interest as possible, please submit questions in advance to [email protected].

Doors open at 5.15pm. The event will start at 5.30pm and will conclude at 7.00pm, followed by a short drinks reception.
