About this Event
Join artist Tomashi Jackson and historian and John J. and Rebecca Moores Chair of History and African American Studies at the University of Houston, Dr. Gerald Horne, for a discussion related to themes about the exhibition Tomashi Jackson: Across the Universe.
This discussion will explore histories of Great Migration families that moved from Texas cities to Northern and Southern California, and in some cases, back to Texas. The conversation will also draw from Dr. Horne’s book, The Counter Revolution of 1836: Texas Slavery & Jim Crow and the Roots of U.S. Fascism.
This program is presented in collaboration with the Association for the Study of Arts of the Present (ASAP).
