Join us on Saturday 25 October, 3–4pm at the Adam Smith Theatre for a special conversation celebrating the legacy of Scottish art and collecting. Broadcaster and writer Michael Portillo, grandson of the linen manufacturer and collector J. W. Blyth (1873–1962), will be in dialogue with Guy Peploe, grandson of the Scottish Colourist S. J. Peploe (1871–1935) and a leading 20th-century picture specialist and author.
Blyth, who served as Fine Art Convenor of Kirkcaldy Art Gallery for 36 years, was instrumental in building the town’s outstanding collection of Scottish Colourist paintings. This event offers a rare opportunity to hear two voices with unique family connections reflect on the passion for collecting, the importance of patronage, and the enduring influence of the Colourists.
Don’t miss this one-hour event which brings Kirkcaldy’s own cultural history vividly to life, a must for anyone interested in art, heritage, and the stories behind great collections.
