A new club night inspired by the nostalgia of house parties is launching in Chester this June. In A Rhythm House Party – founded by childhood friends Josh Bithell and Lester Jones – aims to reinvent the formative first night out bringing together a community of music lovers to dancefloors across the North West.
Kicking off with a free launch event at Chester’s independent bottle shop and craft beer bar That Beer Place on Saturday 8 June In A Rhythm aims to take the concept further throughout summer. Bithell and Jones have created a line-up that’s built upon long-time friendships that were formed around the kitchen tables of house parties with sets from local DJs Mangetout Rarebit Mez and Parso confirmed for the June event.
“The idea came from a surprise party that was thrown for me last year” says Bithell. “The energy in the room was so special we felt like we couldn’t just keep it to ourselves. This event is personal as it brings together some of our closest friends who we’ve partied with since the beginning. It’s been a dream of mine to launch something like this so we hope we manage to recreate the magic in Chester this June.”
Mangetout – which is Bithell’s music side project – has DJed at the likes of Parklife BBC 6 Music Festival and Manchester’s Joshua Brooks and is known for bringing a mixture of wobbly house and big disco vocals to the dancefloor. Rarebit has had a string of releases on various record labels across his career as a DJ and producer and is also the face behind newly opened coffee shop Nuance in Handbridge. Mez and Parso will be making their debut at In A Rhythm spinning records from their favourite house party eras.
“We want to bring a night that’s open and all about having a good time with your pals just like it was at house parties back in the day” furthers Jones. “Hugs beaming smiles and dancing is what you should see on the dancefloor and that’s what In A Rhythm is all about.”
In A Rhythm makes its debut at That Beer Place on Saturday 8 June from 6pm – 1am. It’s a free entry party so no ticket is required.
