About this Event
Ever wonder how Venture Capitalists (VCs) make decisions on who to fund? Join NextCorps for this session on "Reverse Engineering The VC Investment Decision". Rohin Sethi, CEO of Acopia Ventures, will share highlights from the company's tactical operating manual, which breaks down the information asymmetry between founders and VCs on how VCs make early-stage investment decisions.
Attendees will learn how to:
- Build and frame a company pitch with information that's detailed and nuanced to what early-stage VCs are looking for
- Establish a pitch process for more efficient and successful fundraising rounds
- Decrease investor rejections
This is an in-person workshop and lunch will be provided. Space is limited and registration closes at 5:00 PM on Monday, November 4.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Rohin Sethi is the CEO of Acopia Ventures, which has created the largest proprietary, real-time, and granular data set on how early-stage investors make investment decisions across sectors. This data set has been achieved through 40+ years of collective team knowledge in the venture capital space, experience working at over 15 venture funds conducting due diligence and recommending investments as both full-time employees and consultants, and analyzing the investment memos and decisions of top funds like Bessemer Venture Partners, Initialized, a16z, etc. to distill common investment criteria patterns and effectively reverse engineer the venture capital investment decision.
Acopia uses that data set to run startups through real venture capital due diligence (resembling the process of a potential lead investor) and author detailed investment memos and recommendations so they can mitigate their weaknesses and blindspots before speaking with VCs. They also use the exact analytical due diligence tools and models VCs use to help startups convince investors and close the deal. This process helps startups either reduce investor rejections, which lead to inefficient and/or unsuccessful capital raises, or adjust their business strategy to drive towards increasing their venture fund-ability, as very few startups get to the bottom of an investment firm's funnel and close an investment.
