About this Event
Care partners and people living with dementia will each have their own 2-hour session. In various research settings, improv has been used as an intervention for care partners and people living with dementia as well, resulting in improved mood, lower stress, and better coping skills.
Care partners will learn improvisational skills that can improve their communication style and quality of interactions with their loved ones. Together they will debrief about challenges and applications of the techniques.
People living with dementia will be engaged in the Scripted-IMPROV program developed by John Zeisel of the I’m Still Here Foundation. Collaborating with facilitators, participants will be actors creating spontaneous stories and lightening their moods in a positive social environment.
Afterwards, all will gather for a celebratory toast and will have access to the venues delicious menu and drink options.
