IMPROV QUILT BLOCK WORKSHOP - COST $50What you can learn in the workshop:
-How to create a modern look using contrast in colour or tone.
-Awareness of how to use variations in scale and asymmetry.
-Ruler free cutting, rogue ironing, trimming seams.
-How to create at least 3 improvised blocks – “What If”, “Wild Geese” and “Mad Crosses”.
-How to make things fit together when they are odd shapes and sizes.
-Letting go of rules and making it up as you go along.
The workshop will be run by Kerrie Evans who is an enthusiastic chaotic quilter. Kerrie has a background in training and a lot of experience helping people learn new skills with confidence.
Checklist of what you need to bring with you:
-8 squares of fabric of at least 5 inches in size, in a plain colour. White is best for beginners because it will give you a strong contrast with other colours.
-6 strips of contrasting fabric of at least 5 inches wide and 20 inches long.
-Rotary Cutter with a sharp blade. You might find a little cutting mat useful.
-Sewing machine and general sewing supplies for piecing blocks.
-Square or rectangular ruler. 6.5 inch square or 6 x 10 inch rectangle or similar.
-Lunch and snacks.
Cutting mats, irons and ironing boards are available to use.
You can purchase fabrics on the day if you need.
