Build on the fundamentals of improv comedy learned in Improv 101. Located in the heart of JP!About this Event
PREREQUISITE: Please have completed:
- JP Improv 101, or
- One or more semesters with a high school or college improv team, or
- A beginner's improv course at any theater (scout's honor)
In Improv 201, students will build on the fundamental skills they learned in Improv 101. Over the course of eight weeks, we'll explore:
- How to add additional depth and realism to scenes by committing to prop and environment work
- How to create more vibrant, engaging characters by exploring motivation
- How to present a more compelling scene to the audience by thinking about stage presence, blocking, and projection
- How to perform dramatic (in addition to comedic) scenes
- How to play additional short-form improv games and long-form formats
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
- Improvise scenes and long-form sets that take character development into account
- Run scenes together in montages lasting 15-20 minutes
- Run a short performance with minimal participation from a director
