PLEASE JOIN US as we stand up again for Middlewick Ranges and all its wildlife. The fate of Middlewick really hangs in the balance and NOW is the time to stand tall and be counted!
The Councillors have the power to safeguard this biodiversity hotspot of national value using the current Local Plan Review...but time is running out for them to act decisively and finally remove Middlewick - or reallocate as a Green and Blue space.
We are not opposed to houses, just not on treasured sites of such special interest, biodiverse and ecological importance.....
The largest population of nesting nightingales in Essex, largest area of acid grassland, (possibly in England), home to at least 5 red listed species....We currently have an amazing display of waxtop mushrooms and many other fungi (see photos above) popping up at the north field (the one the Stantec survey said was NOT ancient acid grassland!)...Barbastelle bats, the amber dormouse, 1400+ invertebrate species, nesting skylarks....that's without all the other flora, fauna and its oasis of peace and tranquility for us humans, near the heart of Colchester.
