Week 1: WHAT IS RACE? : NO BUT SERIOUSLY, WHAT IS IT?
-Hella brief, yet comprehensive history on the origin & invention of race in this country. Following a further understanding of what implicit bias is. I will be sharing experiences of how implicit bias negatively impacted me & my family growing up.
Week 2: LET’S GET PERSONAL: PERSONAL EXPERIENCES WITH IMPLICIT BIAS
-This week will focus on your experiences with implicit bias. Whether you were on the receiving end, or the one expressing it. I want to stress that this is an open, vulnerable non-judgmental space. We are all human. We will not heal & will hinder the process of liberation for all if we don’t share our faults.
Week 3: C.R.T.D.C.: CULTURE, RACISM & THIS DAMN COUNTRY
-Historical dive into this country’s culture & its infatuation with racism. Plus, the latest trend of how this country is maintaining yt male dominance by implementing the tactics & propaganda they used for the previous generation, & the previous generation, & the previous generation, & the pre… ok- I'm sure you're getting the idea now. no? okay fine… & the previous generation & the
Week 4: I'M NOT RACIST BUT…OH GAWD, HERE WE GO AGAIN (DECENTERING YOURSELF)
-This week I will be sharing my most recent experience of racism & hostility in the workplace. a traumatic situation that started w/ implicit bias, that ended in yt backlash & hostility.
Week 5: YAY! YOU DID IT JOHNNY! YOU DEFEATED RACISM!
-Yay! you did it johnny! you defeated racism! now go out there & live YOUR BEST LIFE gurl! (I'm kidding, we have a lot more work to do).
A review of what we discovered over the past 5 weeks & what we can do to eliminate the ideology & culture of yt supremacy within spaces.
Racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and bigotry are everywhere. we will have to accept that these negative attributes are very much ingrained in our culture & definitely tenets of capitalism to maintain the vehemently unequal power structure between the working class & wealthy. & if this structure continues to exist, we will have to continue to work on ourselves & our communities.
