Implicit Bias and Culturally Competent Communication

This training explores the impact of unconscious biases on behavior and decision-making and provides strategies for fostering cultural competence and effective communication in diverse settings. Participants will learn to recognize implicit biases, understand cultural influences on communication, and develop skills to navigate cross-cultural interactions.

• Participating in dialogue in a welcoming and judgement-free environment promotes discussions that answer questions and touch topics including:
• Understanding unconscious and implicit bias
• Understanding the role of cultural competence in effective communication
• Identifying barriers to cross cultural communication
• Utilize practice skills to enhance cross cultural understanding

Participants will leave with a better understanding of cultural competence and sensitivity necessary to enhance communication in diverse settings and foster a sense of inclusivity.
