This session aims to equip participants with tools to enhance patient care and cross-cultural interactions, and much more!
About this Event

This session’s goal is to equip participants with tools that improve patient care, and cross-cultural interactions with patients and colleagues. Via engaging activities, participants will leave with a deep understanding of microaggressions, their impact, and how to appropriately respond when making a microaggression and observing one. Participants will also leave with insight and motivation to be effective allies for those from marginalized backgrounds. Finally, participants will leave with an appreciation for the concept of privilege and how recognizing one’s own privileges can foster empathy for others. Lunch is included (in case of dietary restrictions, please email [email protected]).

Objectives:

  1. Recognize microaggressions and effectively respond when encountering them.
  2. Understand allyship and practice strategies to be an effective ally.
  3. Embrace the concept of privilege by exploring one’s own privileges, as a means to foster empathy for others.
