A workshop for artists of any discipline interested in developing their knowledge and skills in inclusive practice. This workshop will include support and ideas in making work or facilitating provision that is accessible for Deaf, Disabled and neurodiverse people.
Participants will gain insight into Compass Danceβs practice, focusing on developing community responsive artwork and/or provision that prioritises both the wellbeing and interests of those taking part as well as ourselves as artists and facilitators.
What to expect:
The workshop will take place a Stage Two in Norwich and will include discussions, practical explorations and reflective practice. You will come away with tried and tested tools and ideas in how to make your offer accessible to a wider community or audience. You will also get the chance to explore implementing safe practice.
The workshop will offer artists an understanding of ways to support participants with physical and emotional regulation using Sensory integration techniques. Together we will explore incorporating movement and dance as a non-verbal artform to promote communication skills and build relationships.
Compass Dance are an inclusive dance company based in Norfolk. We bring people together through meaningful dance interactions that support people with disabilities to discover and self-direct their individual creative journey.
The workshop will be led by Compass Co-directors Rosa and Gaelin who are two neurodivergent dance artists and movement therapists who have over two decades of experience in accessible arts practice.
