Imperio Bamba
Imperio bamba, born from migrational nostalgia in North London, define their sound as REBEL CHICHA, which is their own take on the exciting and traditional Peruvian chicha. Infused with psyche- delic rock guitars and synths, hypnotic rhythms like cumbia, salsa and merengue, IB creates a ritual for liberating the body from the sense of distance, pushing for togetherness.
At the heart of Imperio Bamba there is the leading duo, Jules Drade (Perú) and Javiera Limarí (Chile). They collaborate with Titi Damasso and Mariel Cámara (Argentina)
Imperio Bamba’s influences span their Latin American roots and beyond, with chicha, cumbia, salsa, psychedelia and Afro-Peruvian rhythms colouring their unpredictable sound. Their wholehearted advocacy of freedom of movement is not just a statement about migration, but about self-expression and dance too
