The beginning of 2020 was looking bright for Myq Kaplan — what a great year to release a comedy album, "A.K.A." and to refine a new show, "imPERFECT"!

Whomp-whomp.

Here we are 18 months later, tryna pick up where we left off. Join Myq Kaplan, Alex Kumin, and Jaime de Leon for the best night of live comedy you've seen in 18 months. Invite your friends and pack your ll cooler — it's BYO.

This is an outdoor show with distancing. Indoor bathrooms will be available. The event will be presented in accordance with city and state public health guidelines which, of course, could change.

Myq (Mike) Kaplan has been a comedian for 20ish years, a human for 40ish, and atoms since the beginning of time-ish. He's been on Tonight Show, Conan, Letterman, James Corden, Seth Meyers, Comedy Central, Last Comic Standing, and America’s Got Talent. Myq's newest hour of comedy, "imPERFECT," arrives just in time, as we stumble up outta the dark caves we've been living in for the last 18 months, figuring out what the hell we're doing now. In it, he offers advice to his past self — and anyone else who wants it — on subjects ranging from traditional marriage to polyamory, quantum mechanics to the Talmud, childhood to much-older still-happening childhood (a/k/a “adulthood”), reflecting on possible improvements as a man, a relationship partner, a comedian, an Earthling, and as matter and energy comprising an infinitesimal portion of the universe. And who couldn't use that.

Gilead Chicago is a queer, storytelling, bar church that meets on Chicago's far north side. We hosted our first comedy show with Myq back in 2016, before we existed. Since then, we've hosted many comics at other shows or telling stories in church, including Sonal Aggrawal, Carly Ballerini, Gena Gephardt, Dave Maher, Jake Noll, and others.
