An evening of new work from East Anglian members of the Writer’s Guild Of Great Britain. Between them these professional writers have credits in TV, comedy, film, theatre, radio, books, poetry and video games, and the evening as ever promises to be diverse and full of surprises. These are works in progress, fresh off the printer and presented with script in hand. Previous shows featured a horror screenplay, a highwayman musical, a
zombie romcom and a verbatim theatre piece featuring a blue-haired Danny
Boyle. This new show contains theatre from Bren Gosling, Tom Murray and
Fiona Padfield, a radio play by Brendon Connelly and screenplays from
Stephen Keyworth, Samuel Palmer and Liam Weston. It will be curated and
directed by writer-performer, Stephen Keyworth, whose credits include Radio
4’s The Man Who Fell To Earth and BBC1’s Doctors.
Scripts trialled at previous shows have gone on to great things - Kitty Morgan’s The Highwaymen was at the Playhouse in August as part of a regional tour. Fiona Padfield’s Lovedale received funding from the Arts Council and recently had rehearsed readings at Colchester’s Mercury Theatre and the Key Theatre, Peterborough.
The WGGB have been representing and campaigning for working writers since 1959. Ticket proceeds will enable the Guild to continue supporting writers in the East of England. This shows is produced with the invaluable support of Norfolk County Council and Norwich Theatre's Creative Development Programme.
“The Writers’ Guild is a bright spot in a dark world, and I feel very grateful to it.” Tom Stoppard.
