Impact in Action: A Case Study in Embedding Research Impact for Circular Economy Adoption Webinar
Join Associate Professor Glen Croy from Monash Business School to explore how a circular economy research project drove real-world impact by empowering manufacturers in Southeast Melbourne to transition to circular economy practices.
In collaboration with the South East Melbourne Manufacturers Alliance, nine local governments, and various business associations, Glen and his team focused on tackling significant industry waste challenges. Through a co-design approach, the researchers identified the most effective strategies for circular economy adoption while enhancing participants’ capabilities to implement these practices in their operations. This session will illustrate the integration of research impact into the project design and implementation, showcasing a three-phase strategy that facilitated the rapid adoption of sustainable business practices.
Glen will share practical insights into how the project team fostered successful collaborations across industry and government, discussing the challenges faced, key success factors, and lessons learned throughout the process. By highlighting the project’s measurable outcomes - such as a 29% reduction in waste among participants - he will illustrate how research impact can be effectively woven into collaborative efforts. This session promises to provide actionable guidance for those looking to achieve tangible outcomes in their own research projects.
Project Collaborators: Prof Amrik Sohal, Prof Daniel Prajogo, Dr Ananya Bhattacharya, Dr Alka Nand, Assoc Prof Kristian Rotaru, and Dr Tharaka De Vass.
