When people ask Selim George Noujaim why he emigrated from his native Lebanon to settle in Waterbury, his answer is simple: “I followed a Waterbury girl.”It was a good decision, as he and his wife recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary and are blessed with three daughters, two sons-in-law, and two grandchildren.
Selim began his journey in public life as a CT State Representative from 2002-2017, serving in various capacities, including Chairman of the Regulations Review Committee. He has served on boards of numerous charitable organizations in greater Waterbury, including Post University, Children’s Community School, Sacred Heart High School, and Saints Peter and Paul School.
Selim is a founder of the Noujaim Tool Company. Specializing in employee motivation, training, and development, Selim is also a certified “Train the Trainer.” A former president and CEO of the Washington, D.C.-based American Production and Inventory Control Society, Selim has presented numerous motivational seminars, keynote speeches, and technical presentations throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, France, New Zealand, Belgium, and the Netherlands. Most recently, closer to home, Selim was a member of the Finance Audit & Review Committee. He was privileged to be sworn in as a member of the Waterbury Board of Police Commissioners.
Selim graduated from Post Jr. College (now Post University), Central Connecticut State University, and the University of New Haven with an MBA plus additional studies in human resources and labor relations. He received an Honorary Doctorate from Post University and was inducted into the Post University Hall of Fame in 2015.
