The Wheel of the Year turns, and here we are at Imbolc. At the Winter Solstice we celebrated the rebirth of the sun. Imbolc marks the end of winter, the coming waxing Sun, and the first stirrings underground. Bridget, or Bridie, is the triple aspect of Maiden, Mother and Crone. She is the patron of healing wells and springs, of poetry and poets, and of the magick of metalwork and blacksmiths. Bridget's cross is woven out of straw to adorn the Imbolc altar. π
