About this Event
This year’s Carnall Award will go to Cloud and Accucilia Maboudi who have been working with young people in Zimbabwe to bring a message of peace to a new generation through sport and poetry.
Cloud and Accucilia‘s peacemaking partnership is proof that small actions for peace can make a difference and that there is always something you can do. To mark the award, we bring you a night of poetry with a message of hope for peace.
Its so easy to be overwhelmed by the wars in Palestine, Ukraine and around the world just now. Small acts for peace are so important and need to be celebrated. Join us to celebrate peacemakers around the world and to reaffirm that building peace starts with us, and there is plenty we can do personally to build a culture of peace here and around the world.
Featuring:
- Cloud and Accucilia Maboudi who will speak about their work with young people in Zimbabwe promoting peace, and share peace poems from the poetry writing competition they set up
- Mark Birkett who will talk about P&J’s new peacebuilding projects working with young people
- Peace poetry from members of PEN International, an organisation fighting for the right to freedom of expression for poets and writers across the world
