A social history walk to discover the Trades and Professions of Pontefract in 1822.About this Event
200 years ago, Pontefract was a true market town and many of the yards were filled with small manufacturing businesses. Amongst other trades and professions, the town had 5 liquorice boilers/dealers, 11 maltsters, 4 tallow chandlers, 3 banks and a plethora of pubs. Join us, using your imagination, to discover what town centre life was like two centuries ago, starting and finishing at either the Old Grocers (14 September) or the Cartners (18 September), each building having its own unique history.
Meet 5 minutes before the start time, or enjoy a drink first ahead of the walk.
