Watch the Best Tree Climbers in Action! Join us for the Illinois Arborist Association Annual Tree Climbing Competition, in partnership with DuPage County Forest Preserves, at Herrick Lake on Saturday & Sunday, May 31 – June 1, 2025!
Experience the thrill as 30 professional climbers showcase their agility, skill, and expertise in five exciting preliminary events—testing their speed, technique, and safety while maneuvering high in the trees.
Location: Herrick Lake Forest Preserve, Wheaton, IL.
Event Starts: 8:00 AM
Competitors will battle for the title of "Best Climber" in the state of Illinois. The top climbers who score the highest during the preliminary competition will advance to the Masters’ Challenge, held on Sunday, June 1st, from 8 AM - 12 PM at the same location.
The male and female winners of the Masters’ Challenge will be named Chapter Champions and will represent the Illinois Chapter at the International Tree Climbing Championships (ITCC) in Christchurch, New Zealand, in October 2025!
