Meet members of the Illinois Prairie Weavers Guild and their looms! See how weavers at their looms can “weave, weave, weave wonderful things” (Edna St. Vincent Millay). Learn about the art and craft of weaving and it's touch on history—did you know that women wove the sails that caught the wind that brought the Vikings to England?Adults and children each have an opportunity to weave and make their own small woven piece. Experienced weavers guide hands to use several different kinds of looms.
This year, the Illinois Prairie Weavers Guild celebrates 76 years. The guild meets monthly in Lombard, Illinois, and is open to anyone, whether they are a novice, experienced, or just interested in learning a little more about weaving.
No registration required. This is a drop-in style program.
