The badasses of country music, songs by Willie Nelson, Kristofferson, John Prine, Guy Clark, Steve Earle, The Band, Jerry Jeff Walker, Dylan, Waylon Jennings, David Allan Coe, Johnny Cash and many more are all faithfully played by a band who understand the vibe and ethos of Outlaw Country Music.
The music has its roots in earlier subgenres like Western, honky tonk and rockabilly and is characterized by a blend of rock and folk rhythms, country instrumentation and introspective lyrics. The small group of iconoclastic artists active in the 1970s and early 1980s, known collectively as the outlaw movement, who fought for and won their creative freedom outside of the Nashville establishment. Fiercely independent, the "outlaws" abandoned lush orchestrations, stripped the music to its country core, and added a rock sensibility to the sound. Outlaw Country became a metaphor for the lifestyle uniting long-haired hippies and homegrown rednecks, facing off against the establishment, hiding your contraband from the authorities and touring from town to town as though chased by the law.
