Learn the art of Japanese flower arranging in this workshop with instructor Motoko Hattori. Students will create their own ikebana arrangements, depicting landscapes and learning the principals of this traditional art form. This class is on December 13, from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. We require a minimum of 4 students to run this class - if we don't reach that minimum we will contact you regarding rescheduling or a refund.
We offer this class monthly. At a student's first class they will have to purchase some reusable tools (set of flower frogs, mulberry wood, and a text book) for $50 directly from the instructor.
Students should bring a container (any shallow dish will do, such as a baking dish) and their own clippers. Flowers are included.
Motoko is the current headmistress of the Keika-Kazan School of Ikebana. Keika-Kazan is a relatively new school of Ikebana, founded in 1930 by her Grandmother Bunga Tanuma. 'Keika' means scenic flower arranging. With the use of branches and other plant materials, floral landscapes or natural settings (steep gorges, lake sides, waterfalls, flowing streams, seashores and so on) are created - sometimes even telling stories.
