Who is CASA?
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children of the Pikes Peak Region, is a non-profit organization that trains and supervises volunteers to represent the best interests of victims of child abuse, neglect, and severe domestic conflict. CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to be a voice for these children in court and in the community; working towards an outcome of these children being placed in safe, loving homes where they can thrive.
The Importance of Gift Cards
One of the first big steps of ‘growing up’ is having access to money to buy special things or experiences you want. This freedom is something most of us take for granted, but for youth in foster care, there is very little chance to have your own resources to buy your own things. While the basics are covered, teens want the freedom to go into a store and buy something for themselves, or to go to the movies with friends, or grab lunch with classmates. By providing $25 gift cards, teens in foster care can have the opportunity for normalcy-building activities.
