About this Event
Re[discover] the secret of diet and nutrition and how it does not only support longevity but improves quality of life. Everyone should have the opportunity to live a long and healthy life, and everybody can experience healthy ageing. Despite significant growing impact, ageing population often does not receive the same level of priority as other demographic groups. Undernutrition is associated with £23.5 billion/year in health and social care costs in the United Kingdom - over half of these costs are related to undernutrition in older adults. Our society needs a balance and empower ageing population with knowledge on how they can age healthy.
Join us for a lunch screening of “The End of Blue Zone”, a captivating Netflix documentary that delves into the lives of people in two distinct Blue Zones—the Greek island of Ikaria and Costa Rica's Nicoya Peninsula. Discover how these communities thrive, living longer and healthier lives, thanks to their unique diets, traditions, and lifestyles. Don’t miss this opportunity to explore the secrets of longevity and well-being from some of the world's healthiest places!
In partnership with QUB, the screening will be followed by an Ignite Talk by Dr. Nicola Ann Ward where she will present findings of Promed-EX. The aim of the PROMED-EX trial is to test the effect of a 6-month protein enriched Mediterranean diet, with and without exercise, on the risk of undernutrition and cognitive decline in older adults in Northern Ireland.
Whether you are looking to enhance your own ageing journey or support loved ones, this event offers something for everyone. Come and be inspired, embrace the years ahead with vitality and confidence.
