Tales of political intrigue, social change, and humorous historical anecdotes will be at the forefront of this 1-hour talk with Theater with a Mission at Goodwood Museum & Gardens. On November 10, 1824, Florida's legislature gathered for its first-ever session in Tallahassee. Settled in to work within a temporary log cabin capitol, the politicians would revamp Florida Territory law in what is now Cascades Park.
"Tales From The Log Cabin Capitol" will discuss the laws brought to the table during the 1824 legislative session, especially those related to elections, the sale of land, and race relations.
Ben Gunter and Idy Codington of Theater with a Mission (TWAM) will facilitate this timely look into Florida and Tallahassee's 200-year past.
A Tallahassee-based nonprofit theatrical troupe, TWAM brings its audiences face-to-face with Florida's history, through workshops, music, dance, and drama.
This is a brown-bag luncheon.
Attendees are encouraged to provide a $5 donation in support of this program and others like it at Goodwood Museum & Gardens.
