About this Event
We are gathering in solidarity to raise awareness of the urgent dangers posed by unchecked AI development, inspired by Eliezer Yudkowsky & Soares’ new book , and in parallel with other PauseAI protests in . Our goal is to convince US leaders and our AI companies to be the adults in the room and commit to / create binding regulation focusing on safety above profit. It’s up to us to make them understand that they may be the only ones who have the power to prevent AI from having catastrophic, global harms within the next few years, as described in the book.

Current AI models have already proven they can , , , , , default, , , , , , and . And companies are racing to make them more capable at these tasks every single day.
Meanwhile, companies and governments are racing to fund AI capabilities and completely ignoring safety concerns., The Trump administration’s Executive Order 14179 threatens to cut funding to states with AI regulation, and to assemble committees to slash federal regulation. Tech companies have spent $72 million in lobbying since January 2025, resulting in the infamous ten-year AI safety moratorium. This is while they spent $560 billion (about the cost to build the entire Interstate Highway system) in just January 2025. While many leaders acknowledge the risks, nobody is willing to stand behind those words to make the technology safer.
We are not prepared for the consequences. Corporations will not save us. Now is the time to demand safe, human-centered AI for all.
