At IEP Basecamp, you'll have the opportunity to connect with your sector colleagues and like-minded individuals and learn from subject matter experts on a range of topics, all designed to help you be the best you can be. You'll gain valuable insights into the latest trends and best practices for supporting participants and you'll leave feeling empowered to make a real difference to their lives.
The event takes place at Thinktank Birmingham on 5th October 2023 and will feature the very best speakers and panellists drawn from across the employability and skills sector and beyond to share knowledge, exchange ideas and encourage debate. The day’s format is made up of four seminar sessions with networking and refreshment breaks built in to help all present to connect and learn from each other, to enhance your professional practice.
Seminar Programme
Seminar 1 – Let’s Talk About STIGMA – Challenging society’s ‘ab’norms
- Get ready for a thought-provoking and exciting panel discussion with subject matter experts who will each bring their unique perspective and insights on the important subject of STIGMA! We’ll be discussing ‘what works’ in empowering individuals facing unique challenge such as those with past convictions, diverse neurological traits or mental health issues and we'll dig deep into how we can break down barriers and encourage people to 'open up' and discuss key issues like disclosure and discrimination.
Seminar 2 - YOU Matter - Why fitting your own oxygen mask first is crucial
- Discover the power of prioritising YOU. As an employability professional, it's essential to practice empathy and understanding, but it can also take an emotional toll. Taking care of your own wellbeing is critical to avoid burnout and to maximize your full potential, so you can be your best self when supporting others. Join us for an engaging session that will give you practical tips to takeaway that will make a genuine difference.
Seminar 3 - Building Trust And Offering Hope – Supporting those participants with complex needs
- Supporting and empowering participants who require a higher level of support and motivating them to succeed in their goals requires a great deal of skill and understanding but most importantly, it requires trust. In this session we will share real-world examples of ‘what works’ to help build and establish trust, from effective communication strategies and active listening techniques, to tailoring support to individual's needs.
Seminar 4 - Customer Excellence, Not Just Customer Service - How does the employability sector become best in class?
- Transform your customers’ experience! Traditional customer service practices are a thing of the past. To truly understand your customer's needs, you need to go above and beyond. In this session we’ll cover the importance of empathy, active listening, and personalised communication and share practical insights and tools that will help you deliver a customer-centric approach like never before!
