You are invited to enjoy the full performance of our musical at Brighton Open Air Theatre, as part of Brighton Fringe 2024!Idle Women tells the story of 4 women who sign up to work on the canals in ww2 as a little told part of the home front war efforts. The context is perfect for us to tell a story of friendship, resilience, love, and hope, where the women have experiences and encounters that shake their core beliefs. It has themes of identity, queer love, gender, morality in a time of war, and general heart-warming gumption. Also includes a live band playing songs that will pull on your heartstrings, and others that we hope will make you smile.
Our show is family friendly - suitable for all ages, and welcoming of neurodiverse audiences. There are scenes where war and death are briefly mentioned, mild threat, and some cute kisses.
Bring along a picnic to enjoy the full experience of open air theatre!
Idle Women is co-written, co-produced, and co-directed by Busy Lizzies: a group of local actors and musicians, drawn together by the desire to tell dramatised versions of little told stories of hope.
