The ultimate goal of the "Identity, Transformation, and Empowerment" workshop is to empower participants by transforming negative self-perceptions into positive, empowered identities. Using creative expression, specifically through art therapy, as the catalyst for psychological and emotional growth, the workshop also aims to introduce art therapy as a valuable tool for stress management. This approach helps survivors not only in coping with stress but also in finding creative ways to express their emotions and experiences, thereby supporting their overall healing process.

Facilitated by Reiko Michisaki
Reiko Michisaki is a full-time artist based in Central California, residing in Santa Cruz and Pebble Beach. With a degree in computer science from UCSC, she transitioned from a successful career in data science to embrace her lifelong passion for art upon her retirement in 2021. She now creates from her studio in Pacific Grove, CA.Her work is characterized by a deep exploration of identity and transformation, using rich symbolism and personal narrative to delve into the complexities of the self. Through motifs like birds and golden backgrounds, she pays homage to her Japanese heritage and her connection with the Asian community, blending cultural influences into her art.
