'Identity Is My Right To Be Me!' is a hands-on project facilitated by The Light Library with support from Save The Children New Zealand.Together, we'll explore the powerful idea that every child has the right to their own identity. Tamariki and whānau will each create a handmade book to take home, and we'll co-write a new prompt poem that will become a national resource, translated into te reo Māori and made freely available across Aotearoa. Your voices, your stories, and your creativity will be woven into something truly meaningful, to be shared and celebrated for World Children's Day this November.
This workshop is free, fun and open to all - best suited for ages 9-16 with caregivers, but younger whānau are very welcome too. All materials are provided, and we'll finish each session with some shared kai. If your whanau has any particular needs, please let us know.
