Our Blackall Range rainforests contain large, buttressed tree species from the genera Elaeocarpus and Sloanea, and form a significant component of our remnant areas. In our heathlands are some colourful “jewels” of species from this group. What are the characteristics of this family? How do we tell the species apart? oin Hilary Pearl and Rowena Thomas at the Barung Nursery for a two-hour workshop learning eight species of the Elaeocarpaceae from our local forests and heathlands. We recommend you bring a pen, a torch (or a phone with a torch), and your own hand lens if you have one. Magnifying lenses and hand lenses will be available to use, and worksheets will be supplied. We will finish with a walk in the Barung Seed Forest.
