About this Event
The People’s Money is a citywide participatory budgeting (PB) initiative where New Yorkers decide how to spend part of the city’s budget to help their communities thrive. This process happens every year and is open to all New Yorkers 11 and older, regardless of immigration or incarceration status. This fall, New Yorkers are invited to attend public workshops to:
- Learn how the city budget works
- Talk about what their neighborhoods need
- Share and develop ideas to strengthen their neighborhoods and communities
The workshops consist of facilitated group activities in participatory budgeting led by Tracie M. Gardner (National Black Harm Reduction Network) and her team, in collaboration with CUNY SPH’s Harlem Health Initiative (HHI) staff.
Ideas shared in this session will be submitted for consideration by a Borough Assembly, followed by a public vote in Spring 2026. Selected ideas will be implemented as community initiatives in Fall 2026 - Fall 2027.
Have your voice heard in an Idea Generation Workshop and help decide how the city's budget is spent!
Attendees will receive a $25 gift card following their participation. Light refreshments will be provided.
