Aktionsraum, 5.K06, Ebene 5
Toni-Areal, Pfingstweidstrasse 96, Zürich
During his two-week residency at ICST in March and April, Kosmas Giannoutakis will develop a piece for live coding and the Klavierautomat. In his live coding practice, Giannoutakis integrates MIDI controllers, gesture recognition systems, and a brain-computer interface to measure his brain activity. This expands his performative repertoire and emphasizes embodiment and live performance.
He will present the work developed at ICST as part of the Klavierautomat concert “Machine Musicianship” on Tuesday, 8 April 2025, at 20.30h at Kunstraum Walcheturm, Zurich. Kosmas Giannoutakis is a composer, media artist, computer musician, and researcher. He holds a PhD in Electronic Arts from the Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and a Master of Arts in computer music at the Institute for Electronic Music and Acoustics (IEM). His artistic and scholarly work explores alternative modes of musicking, intra-acting with contemporary advancements in technology, including Artificial Intelligence and Distributed Ledger Technology, as well as theoretical frameworks, such as critical posthumanities and speculative materialisms.
In the ICST Artist Talk, he will offer insights into his artistic practice.
