About this Event
Get psyched for the upcoming ice season by meeting fellow ice climbers at Aslin Beer Co's Alexandria Taproom! This is a great way to connect with other ice climbers, learn about upcoming trips, or simply learn about ice climbing.
This will be an opportunity to learn about ice climbing, meet new ice partners, and trade beta about nearby ice climbing.
ALL are welcome, from the newly ice-curious, to the veteran who still remembers leashed-tools, and every ice-enthusiast in between.
We'll also have a brief discussion about:
- Ice climbing in general
- Favorite destinations for DC ice climbers
- Upcoming ice climbing trips (including Ouray, CO)
- How to become an ice climber
- Our annual New Ice Climber Weekends
No ticket/RSVP is necessary for the Ice Climber Social - just join us at Aslin Brewing!
For any climbers who want to arrive early and try some indoor practice ice picks, a few folks will be meeting at Sportrock Alexandria and climbing with various practice tools.
We'll have a few types of practice tools on hand, but feel free to bring your own if you have them.
Please note: a climbing helmet and tethers are recommended when using indoor ice picks. If the ice pick falls off the hold it could hit your head, and you don't want to drop your practice tools on your belayer.
A free ticket is required for anyone wishing to join us at Sportrock.
We're only using tickets to manage the number of climbers because we only have a few indoor practice tools. Your free ticket does NOT indude entry into Sportrock. Non-members must purchase day passes to climb.
