Talk: What Technologies Have Not Been Invented Yet?

A decade ago, the iPhone didn't exist. Now, we're all equipped with a pocket-sized supercomputer. In fact, this computer is more powerful than the computer that put man on the moon. Think broader: a mere century ago, we couldn't take to the sky, but today flying is common place and nothing special. Now, we've got robots on Mars surveilling the area for holidays in 2050. Words such as internet of things, ubiquitous computing, holograms, gestural interfaces, facial recognition systems, automation, light computing and artificial intelligence are all leading us to the concept of technological singularity. The point in time where the processing capacity of the computer is better than the human brain (just think of the film i-Robot). Thus, how will technology disrupt tourism in the far future. Dr Ian Yeoman delves into the world of science fiction or emerging concepts in technology, which with a little bit of imagination could have a transformational effect on the future of tourism. Beam me up Scotty!
