ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT WORKSHOP INSTRUCTORS/THE CONSEQUENCES
The Consequences are Lexie Boatright (concertina & harp), Jake James (fiddle), Cara Wildman (bodhrán & dance), and Ryan Ward (piano & piano accordion). Award-winning soloists in their own right, the quartet comes together to create a dynamic and enthralling sound with a combination of traditional and original tunes.
Lexie Boatright, a multiple All-Ireland award-winning harpist and concertina player based in Baltimore, MD. In addition to her work as a performer, Lexie is a well-respected teacher, regularly teaching across the Irish music summer school and festival circuit.
Jake James, a two-time All-Ireland fiddle champion, bodhrán player, and dancer from Queens, NY. The Irish Echo called Jake's 2018 album Firewood an " [...] outstanding debut solo recording." Since then, Jake has released In Reel Time with fellow New York flute player Brenda Dowling, and has toured throughout the United States, Canada, and Japan with esteemed groups such as the Green Fields of America, the Trinity Irish Dance Company, the Paul Brock Band, and RUNA.
Cara Wildman, a highly sought after bodhrán player at the cutting edge of the instrument's modern development. Cara credits a large part of her musicality to growing up playing western swing with her father in her hometown of Dorchester, Texas. Cara has toured extensively, with fantastic acts that include Joanie Madden, Oisin Mac Diarmada's Irish Christmas in America, and Máiréad Nesbitt. Cara, who was the 2021 All-Ireland Fleadhfest champion, has a Masters degree in Irish Traditional Music Performance from the University of Limerick in Ireland.
Ryan Ward, widely known for his driving yet sensitive and dynamic accompaniment style. Ryan, an award-winning pianist and accordion player hailing from NYC, is a Senior All-Ireland Accompaniment Champion.
