Join Russ Bestley, Reader in Graphic Design & Subcultures at London College of Communication and editor of the academic journal Punk & Post-Punk, for an hour-long talk exploring Jamie Reid’s work for the Sex Pistols within the wider field of music graphics. Russ will highlight a new cohort of artists and designers in the emerging punk subculture who challenged traditional print practices, embraced DIY aesthetics and helped shape the visual language of punk.During the event, Russ will also showcase his latest book, Turning Revolt into Style: The Process and Practice of Punk Graphic Design, offering an in-depth analysis of punk visual culture and its influence on design and print professions.
This talk is part of Eternal Ecstasy, an exhibition celebrating British artist Jamie Reid, featuring original works from the John Marchant Gallery and the launch of a newly editioned screen print of Reid’s first artwork for the Sex Pistols, produced at Peacock & the worm through our Open Access Model.
