I know what I see, but not what I am Sonnenzimmer & Luke Drozd
2nd - 6th April 2025
Exhibition: 'I know what I see, but not what I am' opening at Isotop Project Space Weds 2nd April, kl. 19.00 - kl. 21.00 then by appointment until Sun 6th April.
Created in collaboration with Isotop, Bergen Art Book Fair (BABF) and Bergen Assembly, Bergen will experience the cross-section of Chicago-based artist duo Sonnenzimmer’s practice, with them presenting their publication works at BABF, showing a selection of their wall-based works at Isotop and performing the live version of 'Dubbing Stills' at Bergen Assembly on Saturday 5th April.
The exhibition 'I know what I see, but not what I am' is a collaboration with Bergen-based artist Luke Drozd at Isotop Project space, and features some of Sonnenzimmer’s screen-printed textile pieces, where familiar forms hover just underneath the surface, creating uncanny relationships with colourful sculptures protruding from the picture plane. These works are painting/print/sculptural hybrids that play with the tension of reproduction and an “original” mark.
As an intervention between the artists, Bergen resident Luke Drozd will select and adapt works from his own archive in relation to these works. A quickfire collaboration that looks for tension, shared language and understanding between the artists’ practices.
This will be Sonnenzimmer’s first time showing in Norway, showcasing their diverse practice and highlighting the city’s cross-cultural platforms.
The performance 'Dubbing Stills' will take place at Bergen Assembly Sat 5th April, kl. 18.00
